If you want to learn how to tie flies and fly fish, you came to the right place. Yep, we have our own pond.  At about fifteen feet

deep, this pond will support a variety of good eaten game fish.  In 2002 we stocked this pond with bass, perch and hybrid blue gills.  We also have put in some nest boxes and have already had some feathered visitors to our pond.

We are a group of fly fishermen who meet throughout the year to help teach fly fishing. Fly tying is at the core of our group, as our name states, but that is not all we do.  We take group fishing outings throughout the year including the Good Friday Outing on Oil Creek, a trip to Catskill Mountains in NY, the State College, PA area and our own Presque Isle for Blue Gills and a cookout.

You'll see us at the Outdoor Show at Family First and Presque Isle Appreciation Days.  And just for fun, we have two family parties during the year - a summer picnic and our Christmas Party.

If you would like to join us, you have a couple options.  The first is to join the Gem City Outdoorsmen Club.  This entitles you to full access of the club grounds and various shooting ranges, rental of the picnic area for your family events, hike hunt or fish in the new pond and attend our monthly fly tying meetings free of charge. The second is to pay $1 the night of the monthly meeting.

Whatever you choose, we are glad you have joined us today and hope together we can learn all we can about this form of fishing that we love.
The Gem City Fly Tiers began in February of 1993.  As we've grown through the by remaining focused on our founding principal - to have fun!
